First!

So blogging has been around for quite a while and think I should get into the game (finally).  I think I’m really ready to jump in, but for the right reasons.  First, I am (or was)  a graphic designer, web designer/developer,  software developer, and most of all a tech geek.  I love my gadgets and new technology! And secondly, I’m starting to really hate Facebook.

For a while, Facebook was a great way to connect with old friends and make new friends much the same way as MySpace.  However, lately it’s become StalkBook and StealYourIdentityBook.  It’s become a waste of time and allows others to become all too informed about your personal life.  It’s still a good way to keep in touch with some friends, but most of the time its useless garbage that gets posted.

Speaking of useless garbage, Twitter is not much better than Facebook, just on a different level.  Granted, I don’t have to read about all those stupid quizzes, polls, and games that people engage in on Facebook, but what the hell do I care if you are going to the bathroom, and celebrities are the worst.  There is no way that 140 characters is enough to post anything of genuine meaning.

However, I must give credit where credit is due; Twitter is a great way to network with other professionals.  When I was thinking about freelancing and starting my own business, I found that Twitter was a great way to network with other web designers and share information and ways to further my skills.

So I have decided that if friends and family want to stay in touch or see what’s going on in my life, they can either read my blog or go the old fashioned route and give me a call!  So here’s to success with my blog and keeping in touch with those I care about.

I know…i am addicted to those stupid pointless games on Facebook. Until I get my real life going again, it’s almost all I have…

Never did like Twitter, though most people (including myself at times) use FB like Twitter, so…

I hate that when I post something of substance, or a link somewhere, or new pictures on FB, no one seems to care. Even with people begging me to post my photography somewhere online, and after I do…no one seems to care. I met up with a lot of people from the past on the site, but we seem to loose contact with each other even though they are now only a click away.

I would post elsewhere (such as my wordpress blog) but with my past issues of being stalked online and in person, I have to be careful of what I post and where. Since I finally managed to figure out how to block my FB from certain people, I kinda got out of hand with it!

Keep in touch. I’ll keep reading.
